Museums in Barcelona

The museums in Barcelona can be considered to be some of the best in the world. Barcelona is filled with museums and they range from the Picasso Museum to the FC Barcelona Museum.

There is definitely something for everyone.

Picasso Museum

One of the most popular museums in Barcelona is the Museu Picasso. Here you will see where it all started and how this genius rose to fame. This museum has one the largest Picasso collections in the world. You'll love it!

Picasso Museum

FC Barcelona Museum

Another of the most popular museums in Barcelona is the Museu del FC Barcelona, this is a must for all those Barça supporters around the world. You can also visit the Camp Nou stadium which is truly amazing. In the museum you will find the trophies posters, shirts, boots and tons of other memorabilia of one of the worlds best football clubs.... perhaps the best?

CosmoCaixa Science Museum

Another one of my favorite musems in Barcelona is the CosmoCaixa Museu de la Ciència. This is a great place to visit with and without children. The exhibits range from the “big bang” and end with the latest computing inventions. It has a real rainforest and even a planetarium.

Joan Miró Foundation

Fundació Joan Miró, this museum houses the bold and abstract art of one of Catalonias most famous artists of the 20th century.

It is well worth a visit.

Tapies Foundation

Fundació Tapies, here you will find the art of the Catalan artist Antoni Tàpies. Look out for the cloud and chair sculpture on the roof of the modernist building that houses the collection, not easy to miss this one.

Maritime Museum

The Museu Marítim shows of Barcelona's seafaring history. It is in what used to be the Royal Ship-yards in the 13th century. Here you will see boats and ships from the middle ages to the 19th century and it even has a full scale replica of Don Juan of Austria's flagship, the Real. Don Juan defeated the Turks in the battle of Lepanto in 1571.

MACBA & CCCB

Museu d'Art Contemporani & Centre De Cultura Contemporània or “MACBA”. This is Barcelona's modern art center and combined with the CCCB these two museums in Barcelona form an artistic hub in the heart of El Raval. The MACBA showcases contemporary artists and the CCCB concentrates more on themes.

There are many more museums, the wax museum, the chocolate museum, the footwear museum etc etc etc... I will do my best to get to them all as soon as possible.
